About “Choke”

“Choke” is I Don’t Know How But They Found Me’s second released single. The song was released on October 26, 2017, after being performed at the band’s live shows in LA.

Written by Dallon as a way to sort through his feelings of not fitting in while he was in LA, the song details resentment and animosity towards the superficiality of Tinseltown and the obsession with wealth and fame in the entertainment industry.

The release date is also a direct reference to the popular film Back To The Future (as it is the date Doc Brown and Marty McFly intended to travel to in 2010, before being attacked), from which the band takes its name.

On August 24, “Choke” was rereleased under the label Fearless Records, as the band had previously been unsigned.

  • What have the artists said about the song?

In an article with Alternative Press, Dallon shared:

I wrote “Choke” to sort through how disenchanted I had become with living in Los Angeles. I still love L.A. a lot, but it’s never felt like home for me. It can be a difficult culture to navigate if you don’t have any desire to fit in.
